Itineraries

Komodo National Park

Day 1 – Rinca Island / Kabar Island
Several of our crew will be on site to greet you at the arrivals gate, where they will help you to the pre-arranged taxis for the short ride to the harbour to board tenders to the lead vessel. You will be welcomed on board Oracle by her crew, offering a cold towel and seasonal beverage. The Cruise Director will give an introduction, a safety briefing, a small tour of the vessel and assist with cabin allocation while the vessel departs. The journey to your first destination represents a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the boat layout and take in the amazing scenery.

Today is all about the wildlife above the water. Take a guided tour of the newly renovated national park of Rinca, and while your guide will likely spot them long before you, keep your eyes sharp for monkeys, wild pigs, water buffalo, deer and Komodo Dragons. Enjoy a factual explanation of their history and come to understand how dragons became the apex land predator of the region. Be welcomed back with a refreshing drink as the boat moves to Pulau Kalong (Bat Island), a mangrove island that comes alive at dusk. Take a drink in hand, find a comfortable seat, and enjoy sunset as thousands of flying foxes take wing overhead. Finally, enjoy a lovely meal as your first day comes to a close.

Day 2 – Siaba / Makassar / Padar
Awake in the relaxing bay anchorage of Siaba. Komodo waters owes its abundant marine life to the strong Northerly and Southern currents that run through the park, and today you’re in the centre of it. The first site is home to many Green Turtles, and they can even be spotted from the surface coming up for air before descending back into the depths. The site itself offers a unique contrast between sandy flats and lush coral reef. Enjoy a snorkel or dive at Manta point and hopefully witness the amazing Manta mating train, a beautiful natural spectacle where a train of males follow the female, mimicking her dance like movements. If you’re wanting to take a break from the water, enjoy a leisurely stroll around Takat Makasar sandbar that rest in the shadow of Komodo Island. Swim in the surrounding waters and earn a tan on the beach before returning to the boat for a cool refreshing drink.

For the afternoon, enjoy a sunset hike to Padar viewpoint. The view looks northwest towards the setting sun overseeing the park. It’s the poster shot of the region and holds national significance also, as it’s printed on Indonesia’s 50,000 rupiah note. Take in the scenery and the spectacle of seeing a white, pink and black sand beach in a single frame, before descending to be welcomed back to the boat with a refreshing drink and awaiting dinner.

Day 3 – Padar Island / Angel Island / Labuan Bajo
For your final day we offer a degree of flexibility. Perhaps you want to take in the amazing view from Padar at sunrise, or if the unique sightings from the water the day before are still fresh in your mind and the ocean is calling you back, then you can enjoy a snorkel at a different site.
Alternatively feel free to swim, kayak or paddle board before you open sails and hoist anchor towards Labuan Bajo.

For your disembarkation the crew will collect your luggage from your rooms and following hugs and goodbyes will escort you to the waiting taxis for your journey to the airport.

Please Note: This is a sample itinerary and is subject to change due to guest’s preferences, guests’ capabilities, weather, safety and sea conditions. The first and last day schedule will be dependent on guests’ arrival and departure times.

The first site is home to many Green Turtles, and they can even be spotted from the surface coming up for air before descending back into the depths. The site itself offers a unique contrast between sandy flats and lush cora reef. When the tide is right, snorkel or dive at Batu Bolong, a protruding pinnacle site anyone would find difficult not to enjoy. The thousands of red blennies dance in the swell, backdropped against the colourful shallow soft corals.

After lunch enjoy a snorkel or dive at Manta point and hopefully witness the amazing Manta mating train, a beautiful natural spectacle where a train of males follow the female, mimicking her dance like movements. If you’re wanting to take a break from the water, enjoy a leisurely stroll around Takat Makasar sandbar that rest in the shadow of Komodo Island. Swim in the surrounding waters and earn a tan on the beach before returning after sunset to the boat for a cool refreshing drink and the smell of dinner mingling with ocean air.

Day 3 – Pink Beach / Padar
Awake in the calm waters of Teluk Slaweh and venture to Pink Beach, made famous by the sands pink tinge in the setting sun. The sand owes its colour to a microscopic animal called Foraminifera and its bright red shell. Pink Beach also offers a healthy shallow reef, full of colorful soft corals for snorkeling and a sloping dive site that offers some interesting opportunities, such as frog fish, spotted sting rays and potentially mobula rays passing in the blue.

After the afternoon spent relaxing, kayaking or paddleboarding, enjoy a sunset hike to Padar viewpoint. The view looks northwest towards the setting sun overseeing the park. It’s the poster shot of the region and holds national significance also, as it’s printed on Indonesia’s 50,000 rupiah note. *Please note this itinerary is only a sample and is subject to change.

Day 1 – Labuan Bajo
Our crew will meet you at the airport with refreshing cold towels and mineral water where you will be swiftly transferred to the harbor in Labuan Bajo. Upon arrival, on The Oracle, our highly experienced cruise director will welcome you aboard with our safety & welcome briefings before serving lunch and heading to our first destination. Depending on our arrival time it may be possible to have a check dive or snorkel before relaxing with sunset cocktails and your first dinner experience in this unique natural paradise.

Day 2 – Gili Lawa Laut
This area of the Komodo National Park is home to some of the most famous dive sites in the area. Sites such as Castle and Crystal Rock offer huge schools of fish taking advantage of the current to feed. Shotgun, when dived on a rising tide, is like no other site in the world with a good chance of reef mantas and sharks. For the not so adventurous, China Shop, Light House and Crystal Bay offer some excellent beginner sites surrounded by deserted sandy beaches. Enjoy some sunset cocktails on the roof while the chef prepares the first of many sumptuous evening meals.

Day 3 – Padar Island
After a restful sleep and a nutritious breakfast, we head to Komodo National Park. Exciting dive sites like Batu Bolong, Takat Makassar, Mawan, and Siaba Besar await us, attracting large schools of predatory fish due to the tidal flow. Morning dives offer thrilling encounters with giant trevally, big eye jacks, dogtooth tuna, and barracudas searching for their breakfast. Takat Makassar is a popular spot for manta feeding and cleaning. We embark on a sunset trek on Padar island. Back on the vessel, treat yourself to a relaxing massage before savoring the chef’s delightful creations. The bay is perfect for watersports, relaxing on the beach or cruise around for spoting the local wildlife.

Day 4 – Rinca Island
Early in the morning, before the heat of the day, is the best time to search for Komodo dragons. Our crew will escort you, along with the local rangers, through the dense brush in search of these ancient beasts. You might also see water buffalo, monkeys, wild boar and various birds and reptiles. On return to The Oracle, a hearty breakfast awaits you. Komodo bay is a perfect spot to use the kayaks or paddleboards. After lunch we can visit the famous Pink Beach that is nearby and then continue our expedition to Nusa Kode.

Day 5 – South Rinca
Jurassic-like bay, cliffs, forests, and seas form a timeless land. Monkeys, deer, and boar attract Komodo dragons. Brahminy kites and sea eagles rule the skies. Cooler waters, Indian Ocean’s touch, nurture diverse marine life—frog fish, sea apples, nudibranchs, dolphins, whales, and mobula rays. Cannibal Rock, Yellow Wall, Torpedo Alley, Boulders—world-class dives with treasures on every surface.

Day 6 – Manta Point
We make our way back north, to the central area of the park, to visit some sites we have not yet experienced. Siaba, Mawan and Tatawa islands all have multiple spectacular snorkel and dive sites and it’s always good to visit Batu Bolong again on the opposite tide from a few days ago. After lunch we can make a short excursion to the sand bar at Takata Makassar before submerging at Manta Point in search of schooling mantas. This evening we head to Kalong, a protected Mangrove reserve, for a unique spectacle of nature you are likely never to forget.

Day 7 – Sebayor
This morning we arrive at the Sebayor islands. Located just outside the national park, this area is ideal for fishing and various water sports. We can visit a small village that is very welcoming to foreigners, relax onboard with a massage from our spa therapist or just chill on a secluded beach and read a book. Of course, snorkeling and diving options are on offer depending on your flight times tomorrow. This evening we can dine al fresco on the beach or under the stars on the top deck of the vessel.

Day 8 – Labuan Bajo
After a final decadent breakfast on deck our crew will assist you in disembarking The Oracle and transfer you to the airport or your chosen hotel where we will bid you a fond farewell and hope to see you again soon. Itinerary is subject to change at short notice due to weather and tidal conditions. We will always discuss with you the benefits of the options available before deciding on our next location. In the interest of safety, the Captain and Cruise Directors decisions are final.

Raja Ampat

Day 1 – Sorong
Our crew will meet you at the airport with refreshing cold towels and mineral water where you will be swiftly transferred to the harbor in Sorong. Upon arrival, on The Oracle, our highly experienced cruise director will welcome you aboard with our safety & welcome briefings before serving lunch and crossing the Dampier Strait to Waisai on the big island of Wagieo. Depending on our arrival time it may be possible to have a check dive or snorkel before relaxing with sunset cocktails and your first dinner experience in this lush tropical paradise.

Day 2 – Mansuar & Kri
This area of the Dampier Strait was made world famous by ichthyologist Gerry Allen. Cape Kri dive site is listed as having the highest species count on a single dive anywhere in the world. At this relatively easy dive site you can expect to see multiple schools of barracuda, schooling bat fish, surgeon fish, sweetlips along with white and black tip sharks and various species of turtles. There is also a small bay with a jetty that is perfect for snorkelers, or beginner divers along with paddle boarding and kayaking.

Day 3 – Wagieo – The Passage
After waking to the sound of bird song emanating from the nearby jungles we slowly cruise to this unassuming “river” mouth. This river is actually the ocean and it separates the big island of Wageio from the smaller Gam Gam. Twice a day the direction of the river flow changes and creates a very unique experience each time we enter the water. British explorer, Sir Alfred Russel Wallace, described this area as one of the most picturesque landscapes he has ever seen. For the keen birders in your group we offer a very early morning jungle trek to search for the red bird of paradise in this area.

Day 4 – Piaynemo
One of the most beautiful viewpoints of this trip is also home to some of the regions most beautiful dive sites. Melissa’s Garden is known for its extensive coral gardens and Anita’s Garden is equally as beautiful and also has some unique swim-throughs into a secluded lagoon. Late afternoon is an ideal time to take the 20-minute trek to the viewpoint to admire the turquoise lagoons and outlying islands. After returning to the vessel, why not try a night dive at Galaxy dive site or enjoy a soothing massage from our professional spa therapist before enjoying yet another of our chefs delightful creations.

Day 5 – Wayag
The idyllic Wayag is made up of extensive limestone karsts with hidden white sand beaches and dense tropical jungles. We rise early to trek to the top of Mount Pindito and admire the view before descending to enjoy the surrounding coves and deserted soft sandy beaches. Take the kayaks or paddleboards and explore the calm lagoons, if you are lucky you can spot juvenile manta rays and black tip sharks that take sanctuary in these rich waters. This evening we have our beach BBQ before heading back to The Oracle to star gaze from the top deck.

Day 6 – Wofoh
Two islands connected by a rocky sand bar with one of the nicest beaches you are likely to set foot on. The protected waters here are ideal for kayaking and paddleboards. For the divers, Black Forest dive site offers some of the nicest coral coverage and deep walls teaming with marine life. You can expect to see bumphead parrot fish, giant trevally, unicorn fish and many other colourful reef fish here. Enjoy some sunset cocktails on the roof while our professional chef prepares another spectacular dinner to be served under the stars.

Day 7 – Batanta
The rich waters of the Dampier Strait transport plankton on its tidal flows, this in turn attracts Reef and Oceanic Manta Rays to this area. These gentle giants congregate to feed on blooms of these tiny organisms, filtering them from the water with their huge mouths. We also know of a few cleaning stations here where you can observe mantas enjoying the cleaning service of various species of fish in between feeding sessions. There is a good chance that we will also be visited by the resident pod of dolphins that are often spotted here. Tonight, we make our way slowly back to Sorong.

Day 8 – Sorong
After a final decadent breakfast on deck our crew will assist you in disembarking The Oracle and transfer you to the airport or your chosen hotel where we will bid you a fond farewell and hope to see you again soon. Itinerary is subject to change at short notice due to weather and tidal conditions. We will always discuss with you the benefits of the options available before deciding on our next location. In the interest of safety, the Captain and Cruise Directors decisions are final.
